The rules of Tumbleweed: what you may do, what you may not, and what to expect from us.

Last revised July 24, 2026

In short

The game is free; there are no ads and nothing to buy. It is meant for players aged 16 and over. Everything in it is fiction, and part of the prose is written by a language model. Your hero, credits and gear are rows in a database, not property. You can delete your account at any moment on the Account tab.

This block is a summary for quick reading. The obligations live in the sections below.

Who we are

The game is run by spacelifesimulator.xyz, a private non-commercial project.

For any legal matter — a complaint, a data request, an objection to content — write to legal@spacelifesimulator.xyz. We answer such letters within a reasonable time, normally within 30 days.

What Tumbleweed is

It is a text-based life simulator. You do not steer the hero directly: you set temperament, priorities and goals, and he lives on his own — an hour per hour, around the clock, including the time you are not looking.

Events follow the simulation rules; descriptions are assembled from templates, and some of the prose is additionally written by a language model. We may change the rules of the world, the economy, the texts and the looks of the game — this is a living project, not a boxed product.

Age

The game is intended for people aged 16 and over. Its world is a poor edge of the future: the texts contain fights, drinking, crime, arrest and prison. There is no gore and no glorification of crime, but this is not a children's game.

By starting the game you confirm that you are at least 16 years old. If we learn that an account belongs to someone younger, we will delete that account and its data.

Account and sign-in

You can start without registering: a hero is created in one tap, and the game recognises you by a marker that lives only in this browser. Clearing browser data or opening the game on another device means losing that hero, and we will not be able to bring him back.

To keep the hero, tie the account to an email address: you sign in with a code from a letter or through Google. There is no password — access to the account equals access to the mailbox, so guard it. One account holds one living hero.

Abandoned guest accounts (with no email attached) are deleted after six months of complete silence, and the hero is seen off with a note in the world news.

Playing fair

The few things we ask:

Your texts

You write very little in the game: your hero's name, free-text orders, and suggestions attached to entries. The rights to those texts stay yours.

So that the game can work, you grant us a simple permission: to store these texts, to show them to you, and — where that is part of the game — to other players. A hero's name is public: it appears in the news of the shared world and on the hero's public page. Orders and suggestions are not published: an order goes to parsing, a suggestion is read by us.

We may change or remove a hero's name or any of your text if it breaks the rules above — and we try to explain why.

All of it is fiction

The cities, agencies, newspapers, mayors, police chiefs and corporate figures in the game are invented. The story is set on a far-future Earth, and real place names are used as scenery: the in-game Rotterdam or Norilsk describes neither the real city, nor its residents, nor its authorities.

Any resemblance of names and circumstances to real people and organisations is coincidental. The game's texts are not news, not facts and not anyone's assessment.

Texts written by a machine

Some of the writing — encounter scenes, daily vignettes, summaries, news, biographies — is produced by a language model from our prompts. Such texts are fiction and may be inaccurate, odd or self-contradictory.

Nothing in the game is advice — legal, medical, financial or otherwise — and nothing in it should be read as a statement about the real world.

No money, no property

The game is free. We sell nothing, show no ads, and charge nothing for speed, items or advantages.

Credits, gear, housing, venues and any of the hero's achievements are rows in our database. They are not your property, hold no monetary value, cannot be exchanged for money and are not compensated if they disappear.

If a paid part ever appears in the game, we will describe its terms separately and in advance.

The game is provided as is

We do our best to keep the game running and your progress intact, but we do not promise it. Outages, bugs, simulation errors, data loss and the end of the project are all possible.

We may change or shut the game down entirely. If the project is closing, we will try to warn you in advance — by email, where an address was left.

If the rules are broken

If the rules are broken we may remove the offending text, limit access to part of the game, or close the account. We try to pick a proportionate measure and to explain the reason — by email, where an address is attached.

If you believe the decision was wrong, write to legal@spacelifesimulator.xyz: we will review it and reply.

How to leave

You may leave at any moment and without explaining yourself. The Account tab has a delete button: it erases your personal data — email, Google link, notification subscriptions, time zone, your likes, follows and the texts you sent us.

Your hero does not vanish from the world: he loses his owner, walks out of the game with a note in the news, and stays in the shared history like a page already read. That is how a shared world works: other players' feeds and old news refer to him, and erasing him retroactively would tear them. Nothing connects him to you any more.

If you would rather start another life than leave, the Account tab also offers “start over”: the old hero walks into the world and you pick a new fate.

Reporting content

If you come across something unlawful or offensive in the game — another player's hero name, a line in the news, anything — write to legal@spacelifesimulator.xyz. Tell us where you saw it (a link or the entry's title) and what exactly is wrong.

We will look into it, decide, and tell you the outcome. If the text is removed, we will normally explain the reason to its author.

Changes to these rules

The rules may change along with the game. The date of the last revision is printed at the top of this page; we announce material changes in the game itself and, for those who left an address, by email.

Continuing to play after a change means the new rules are accepted. If you disagree, you can delete your account.

Liability

The game is provided as is, without warranty of fitness for any purpose. We are not liable for indirect damages, lost profit or lost game progress.

Nothing in these terms limits liability where the law forbids limiting it: we remain liable for intent and gross negligence, for harm to life and health, and in any other case where a limitation is not permitted. Consumer rights that cannot be waived by contract stay yours in full.

Law and disputes

We do not push a foreign law or a foreign court on you. If you play as a consumer, the law of your country of habitual residence applies, and you may bring a claim before the court of your own place of residence.

Before going to court, please write to legal@spacelifesimulator.xyz. Most misunderstandings are settled by a single letter, and we genuinely prefer that route.
